Zibulo SBS System

CEC was again at the forefront when it came to first of a kind fabrication of new technology designed systems.

Our clients design was based around Anglo American’s specific requirements. Taking into consideration the life cycle of the system at design stage, and integration of system in the production process in such a way to ensure asset maximisation.

This standby belt storage and replacement system was fabricated by CEC Engineering. This system is used to store a complete replacement belt for an inclined shaft conveyor. It will feed new belt onto the conveyor and the old belt off the conveyor during replacement. This system ensures down time during the replacement of a belt is decreased from 7 days to 2 days.

The full system includes the turntable, belt reelers and crawl system that was fully trial assembled in our works.

This project was for Zibulo Colliery Mine which comprised of Turntable, Turnover Area, Belt Reeling Area and Splice Station which was the first design from Australia for equipment used to change the a conveyor belt underground.

There was a lot f machining involved and 90% of the equipment was galvanised with few guards powdercoated. We also did full trial assembling inside our heavy bay for the belt reeling area, turntable and the splice station and the rest of the items were assembled in our 1st workshop because the whole length of the equipment was more than 100m.
